Around 200 fall ill after dinner at Ranak Girls Hostel
About 200 students at Ranak Girls Hostel in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, got sick late Thursday night after eating dinner in the mess:
Several students reportedly developed vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea.
Health teams rushed in to help, and 13 students with more serious symptoms were admitted to a nearby hospital as a precaution; doctors said their condition is now stable and they are out of danger.
Paneer and milk under probe
Thirteen students with serious symptoms were taken to the hospital as a precaution; the rest got treated right at the hostel.
Officials are investigating what went wrong: paneer and milk used for the meal had been procured from outside.
The existing mess cooks have been replaced temporarily, started ordering food from another hostel, and tightened up hygiene rules while local authorities check water and kitchen safety.
