PM Modi thanks people of Arunachal for BJP's victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the people of Arunachal Pradesh for the victory of the BJP.

“Thank you Arunachal Pradesh! The people of this wonderful state have given an unequivocal mandate to politics of development. My gratitude to them for reposing their faith in @BJP4Arunachal yet again. Our Party will keep working with even greater vigour for the state’s growth,” he wrote on X.

ECI declares result: Landslide victory for BJP in Arunachal

The Election Commission of India has announced the results for the Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has registered a landslide victory securing 46 of the 60 seats. Notably, the party had already won 10 of these seats uncontested ahead of the polling.

The second largest party in the state with five seats is National People’s Party, followed by Nationalist Congress Party with three seats.

The People’s Party of Arunachal has won two seats, while the Congress managed to scrape through and secure one seat for itself in the assembly.

The other three seats have gone to Independent candidates.

ECI declares result: Sikkim's ruling SKM sweeps polls

The Election Commission of India has announced the results for the Sikkim assembly elections.

The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), led by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, has secured a dominant victory by winning 31 out of the 32 seats in the state.

The opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has been reduced to one seat.

SKM chief Tamang credited the landslide victory to the dedication of the SKM cadre and the trust the people have placed in his government.

“It is because of the love and trust of the people which we have managed to secure in the past five years in government. Besides, party cadres worked very hard. Now we have the next five years to give our 100% for the people of Sikkim,” he said at a gathering in Paljor Stadium in Gangtok.

Tamang won in both the Rhenock and Soreng-Chakung constituencies, where he was a candidate.

In 2019, the SKM had won 17 seats, ending the 25-year rule of the SDF.

Sikkim CM designate Tamang's wife wins from Namchi-Singhithang constituency

Sikkim Chief Minister designate Prem Singh Tamang’s wife Krishna Kumari Rai won from the Namchi-Singhithang assembly constituency, the Election Commission of India said.

Krishna Rai the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) candidate defeated her nearest Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) rival Bimal Rai by 5,302 votes.

Sikkim CM designate Tamang wins 2nd seat

Sikkim Chief Minister designate and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha chief Prem Singh Tamang has won the second seat for his party by defeating the Sikkim Democratic Front's AD Subba in the Soreng-Chakung assembly constituency.

Earlier, the Election Commission of India had declared Tamang the winner for the Rhenock assembly seat.

SKM returns to power in Sikkim, BJP in Arunachal

Let's do a quick recap.

The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is set to retain power in the Himalayan state, having comfortably surpassed the majority mark as vote counting continues.

Opposition leader and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) chief Pawan Kumar Chamling has been defeated in both constituencies he contested.

So far, the SDF has won only one seat—Shyari, where it fielded turncoat candidate Tenzing Norbu Lamtha.

The SKM contested the 2024 Assembly elections independently, as the BJP chose to end their alliance.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the BJP has crossed the halfway mark. The outgoing Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s administration is set to return for a third term.

Arunachal: BJP improves on its 2019 performance

The BJP is on track to return to power in Arunachal Pradesh with an even stronger performance than in the previous Assembly, having secured victories in 42 seats and leading in another four in the 60-member House elections.

The party's stronghold was evident when it won 10 seats uncontested, including the constituencies of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

The BJP is in a comfortable position to surpass its 2019 tally of 41 seats.

A notable outcome is the near-total defeat of the Congress, which led the state until Pema Khandu and 43 MLAs left the party in 2016.

As of 1:30 pm, the Congress was leading in just one seat with a vote share of 5.12%.

In the 2019 elections, the party had won four seats with a vote share of 16.85%.

The Congress's struggle was further highlighted by its difficulty in fielding candidates, managing to nominate only 19 contenders.

Arunachal: BJP's vote share at 54.64%

As of 12:45 pm, data from the Election Commission of India shows that the Bharatiya Janata Party has garnered a vote share of 54.64% in Arunachal Pradesh.

The National People's Party stands at 16.53%, while the People's Party of Arunachal has secured 7.56% of the vote share.

The Congress has a significantly lower vote share of 4.90%.

Sikkim: SKM crosses majority mark, CM Tamang to return for another term

According to the latest updated by the Election Commission of India, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has won 18 out of 32 assembly seats in Sikkim, crossing the majority mark to form the government.

Party chief and current Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang is set for another term, having won Rhenock with a majority of over 7,000 votes.

Sikkim: Former CM Chamling loses 1 seat, trailing in another

Former Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) chief Pawan Kumar Chamling is trailing behind Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) candidate Raju Basnet by 1,935 votes in the Namcheybung seat, according to the Election Commission of India at 12:00am.

In the Poklok Kamrang Assembly constituency, he lost to Bhoj Raj Rai of the SKM by 3,063 votes.

Sikkim: SDF wins Shyari seat, the only constituency where it was leading

Tenzing Norbu Lamtha from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) emerged victorious in the Shyari seat–with a narrow margin of just 1,314 votes.
