Assam: Man killed over song request at Durga Puja pandal

India

During Dashami celebrations in Guwahati on October 2, Abhinash Rajak, 28, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of 30-40 people near the Kalibari Jagriti Sangha Durga Puja pandal.
The violence reportedly broke out after Rajak requested a song by late singer Zubeen Garg, which apparently angered them.

3 suspects still at large

After the idol immersion ceremony, Rajak tried to escape in an e-rickshaw but was pulled out and attacked again near Anil Borah Club. He died later at a private hospital from his injuries.
Following a complaint from his sister, police registered a murder case and have detained six members of the Durga Puja committee for questioning.
Three suspects—M Shankar Kumar Rao, Ratul Borah, and Sujit Sarkar—are still missing.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could help in locating the remaining suspects as the investigation continues.
