Assam moves to give ST status to 6 major communities

Big update from Assam: The state cabinet just backed a plan to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to six large communities—Tai Ahom, Chutia, Moran, Motok, Koch-Rajbongshi, and Tea Tribes.
This recommendation comes from a special ministers' group led by Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu.
