Assam's Cachar district hit by 4.7-magnitude earthquake at 9:10pm.

On Thursday night, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake hit Cachar district in Assam at 9:10pm according to the seismic office here.
The epicenter was deep underground, 39km below the surface.

Assam tremors felt, no immediate damage

People across Assam and even in Shillong, Meghalaya, felt the tremors.
Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or damage to property anywhere in the region.

Quake part of frequent Northeast shakes

Northeast India is one of the most earthquake-prone places on Earth.
So while this quake was unsettling, it's part of a long list of frequent shakes locals experience.
