BAI moves Delhi High Court over misinformation on London event
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has gone to the Delhi High Court to fight back against viral social media posts claiming Indian judges and Union ministers attended a government-funded badminton event in London.
These rumors have already been called out as false by the government's fact-check team, but they keep spreading online.
BAI says this misinformation is bringing a bad name to the sport and preventing further damage to the reputation of the judiciary and the sporting body.
Court to list BAI takedown plea
BAI is asking for an urgent order to take down these "malicious posts" from social media and news sites. They argue that letting these claims linger only makes things worse for everyone involved.
The court agreed to list the matter today, subject to the clearing of the defects by 2.30pm.
