Bank holidays in India: Check which days are off
Heads up: Indian banks—including SBI, HDFC, and ICICI—will be closed at various times from October 13 to 19, 2025, thanks to a bunch of festivals and the usual weekend breaks.
The Reserve Bank of India has lined up holidays on all Sundays plus the second and fourth Saturdays this month.
Regional holidays and other big closures
Expect bank branches to be shut on October 18 in Guwahati for Kati Bihu and across India on October 19 for Sunday.
Other big holidays like Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath Puja are also coming up—so depending on where you are, there could be as many as 21 bank holidays in October.
What to do when banks are closed?
Even when branches are closed, you can still use IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, UPI, or ATMs for your banking needs.
So while cheque deposits and other in-person stuff will have to wait till banks reopen, your online transactions won't skip a beat.
