Bengaluru couple caught smuggling ₹18.6cr worth of hydro ganja

India

A Bengaluru couple, Shafiuddin Sheikh and Sara Simran, were arrested by Mahalakshmi Layout police hours after arriving at Kempegowda International Airport for allegedly smuggling 18kg of hydro ganja from Bangkok.
The drugs, hidden in food packets inside their backpacks, were worth a whopping ₹18.6 crore and meant for local delivery.

How they got involved—and what happens next

Police say the couple was recruited by an international drug syndicate that promised free trips and cash, taking advantage of their clean records.
Now in 10-day police custody, they're being questioned as investigators check their phones to track down others involved.
This bust is part of Bengaluru police's bigger push against drug trafficking—over 58kg of hydro ganja has been seized since November, especially as smuggling spikes during festive seasons.
