Man swallows ₹17L diamond pendant in bizarre heist
A man in New Zealand pulled off a wild move by stealing and swallowing a diamond-studded pendant straight from a jewelry store in Auckland.
The Faberge octopus pendant, inspired by the James Bond movie Octopussy and valued at around ₹17 lakh (NZ$33,000), disappeared down the suspect's throat before he was arrested on the spot.
He showed up in court the next day but didn't say much—no plea entered.
Only 50 pendants like this exist
This isn't just any necklace—it's made of gold and green enamel, set with 183 diamonds, two sapphires, and features an 18-carat gold octopus with sparkling diamond details.
With only 50 of these pendants out there worldwide, it's seriously rare.
Right now, police are keeping an eye on the suspect and waiting for nature to take its course so they can recover the pendant as evidence.
Inspector Grae Anderson confirmed everything is being handled carefully while they wait for the natural process to do its job.
