Bengaluru: Fake RBI officials steal ₹7.11 crore from ATM cash van
India
In a wild twist straight out of a movie, a group pretending to be RBI officials managed to steal ₹7.11 crore from a cash van in Bengaluru's JP Nagar.
They convinced the van staff they needed to check documents, then moved both the staff and all the cash into their own "official" vehicle—complete with a Government of India sticker.
Police crack down fast, but hunt for gang continues
The robbers dodged CCTV and kept switching number plates, making things tricky for investigators.
Still, Bengaluru Police acted quickly—nabbing three suspects (including a police constable) within 54 hours by tracking vehicles across southern states.
The search is still on for more members, raising tough questions about how easy it was to pull off such an elaborate scam.
