Bengaluru techie drugged and robbed after dating app meet-up

India

A Bengaluru techie in his mid-20s was allegedly drugged and robbed of gold and cash worth nearly ₹6.9 lakh by a woman he met through a dating app and her boyfriend.
Kavipriya (24) and her boyfriend Harshavardhan (25), both from Tamil Nadu, were arrested after police tracked them down using technical clues and CCTV footage.
The incident began when the victim met Kavipriya on Happn, went out for dinner with her on November 1, and later checked into a hotel together—where she reportedly spiked his drink.

How the plan unfolded—and what's next

The victim woke up to find his gold chain, bracelet, cash, and headset gone. At first, he hesitated to go to police out of privacy worries but filed a complaint days later.
Investigators traced the suspects to Karur; during questioning, the couple admitted they planned the theft to pay off debts from online loans taken for their expensive lifestyle.
The stolen gold has already been sold off and hasn't been recovered yet. Police are now checking if this was their only crime or if there might be other victims too.
