Mumbai's cool morning cut short by unhealthy air

India

Mumbai got a rare taste of sweater weather on Wednesday, with Santacruz dropping to 16.2°C.
But the chill didn't last—air quality quickly turned 'unhealthy' as the AQI shot up to 275.
The IMD says the city will see clear but hazy skies, with highs around 33°C, thanks to all that pollution hanging around.

Pollution hotspots and winter worries

Pollution bounced back fast after recent rains, especially in spots like Wadala Truck Terminal (AQI 394), Deonar (329), Malad (323), Colaba (320), and Worli (318).
Even suburbs like Kandivali East and Borivali East weren't spared.
Experts warn things could get worse as winter sets in, making it even more important for Mumbai—and other big cities—to tackle air pollution head-on.
