Bengaluru's New Year: No firecrackers, tighter rules for parties
Planning to celebrate New Year's Eve in Bengaluru?
Heads up—firecrackers are completely banned this December 31, and the city is rolling out strict safety rules for all parties, pubs, hotels, and even PGs.
The goal: keep everyone safe while ringing in the New Year.
What party organizers and venues need to know
If you're hosting an event, you'll need official clearances and must stick to the approved guest limit.
No parties allowed in basements or on terraces.
Sound has to stay within legal limits (Noise Pollution Rules of 2000), and loudspeakers require prior permission.
Big LED screens or speakers outside are a no-go.
Extra security steps for venues and PGs
Venues have to step up security with frisking, metal detectors where necessary, and CCTV cameras at entrances and dance floors (with recordings kept for 30 days).
Fire clearance is a must, plus "No Smoking/No Drugs" signs everywhere.
Organizers must arrange sufficient parking within their premises.
For PGs: keep a log of who comes and goes—male visitors will not be permitted to greet female residents.
Break the rules? Police will shut you down
Police have made it clear: any venue that ignores these guidelines risks being shut down on the spot—and could face legal trouble too.
All these steps are about making sure everyone has fun safely as Bengaluru welcomes the new year.
