Big changes in July 2025: Tatkal bookings to ATM fees
Big changes are coming if you travel by train or use ATMs often.
From July 2025, booking a Tatkal train ticket online will need Aadhaar verification and an OTP, and agents won't get first dibs on tickets anymore.
Plus, banks like Axis and ICICI are updating their ATM fees—so those extra withdrawals might cost you more.
How travel and banking will change
To cut down on misuse, everyone booking Tatkal tickets must link their Aadhaar to IRCTC accounts and verify with an OTP—even at the counter or through agents.
Agents can't book AC Tatkal tickets in the first 30 minutes of opening, so regular folks get a fair shot.
On the banking side, Axis Bank will charge ₹23 per extra ATM withdrawal after your free limit; ICICI Bank is tweaking its own limits and fees too.
Also, keep an eye out: new interest rates for small savings schemes like PPF and NSC are coming soon.
