Bihar electoral roll finalization: 69L names deleted, including 6,000 foreigners
India
Bihar just published its final electoral roll for 2025, trimming nearly 69 lakh names—leaving 7.42 crore voters on the list.
About 6,000 people were dropped for not being Indian citizens and their cases are being referred to relevant authorities as per ECI guidelines.
Major deletions due to deaths, duplicate registrations
Most deletions happened because of deaths, people moving away, or duplicate registrations—especially affecting women who often end up registered at both their parental and marital homes.
This led to a noticeable drop in female voters across districts like Purnia and Patna.
With so many names removed but little public explanation, there's growing demand for more transparency to keep trust in Bihar's voting system strong.
