Bihar pioneers mobile phone voting

Bihar is rolling out mobile voting for its municipal elections, making it the first state in India to do so.
The goal? To help people who can't make it to polling booths—think elderly voters, those with disabilities, pregnant women, and migrants.
This new option will be available in Patna, Rohtas, and East Champaran districts.

TL;DR

How mobile voting works

This move could make voting way more accessible for groups who usually struggle to participate.
With the Android-only e-SECBHR app (built by C-DAC and the State Election Commission), voters just link their registered phone number and cast their ballot securely—thanks to tech like blockchain and face matching.
Around 50,000 people are expected to use this system. If all goes well, Bihar's experiment might set the stage for digital voting across India in future elections.
