Bihar: Woman gang-raped by 5 men, bullet removed from vagina

A woman in Begusarai, Bihar, was allegedly gang-raped by five men on June 11. The incident took place near the Chakiya Police Station limits around 11:30pm when the victim had gone to use the toilet. The accused reportedly locked her husband inside a room before gagging and taking her to a secluded spot outside her home.

The victim was later admitted to a hospital after the incident after which she was discharged. Since she complained of persistent pain, she was readmitted. During her treatment, doctors removed a bullet, a stone, and a piece of wood from her private parts. She said she was unaware of these objects as she had lost consciousness during the assault. "I was in a lot of pain," she told reporters after being discharged from Sadar hospital on June 12.

Victim previously assaulted 3 months ago
The victim also revealed that she had been assaulted three months ago by three criminals who broke into her home and attempted to sexually assault her. Despite filing a complaint then, no action was taken by the police. DSP Anand Kumar Pandey confirmed that a scientific investigation is underway in the current case. "The woman's statement appears to be true," he said, adding that internal damage was visible upon her return home from Sadar hospital.

The police are working to identify and arrest the accused in this case. DSP Pandey also assured that action would be taken against any police personnel found guilty of negligence in handling the case.
