Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation rolls out QR collars for street dogs
India
Mumbai just got a tech upgrade for its street dogs: BMC is swapping out those old, faded ink marks for shiny new QR code collars.
Announced on August 20, 2026, these reflective collars act as digital IDs, storing each dog's vaccination and health info so they're easier to track and care for.
Collars aid Mumbai rabies 2030 drive
This is all part of Mumbai's big push to be rabies-free by 2030 under the Animal Birth Control program.
With over 50,000 dogs vaccinated and 400,000 sterilized so far, the new system helps keep tabs on treated pups and avoids repeating procedures.
It's also a smart way to make sure every dog gets the right care at the right time.
