India
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, former president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and BJP leader, got a massive welcome in Gonda after being acquitted in a sexual harassment case.
His supporters turned up with drums, music, and a huge convoy: people even showered flower petals from excavators while fireworks went off.
Prateek Bhushan Singh waved a mace
Singh started his day by offering prayers at Ayodhya's Hanumangarhi temple before heading to Gonda.
Along the way, crowds cheered Sher Aaya (the lion has arrived) as his convoy rolled through town.
The celebration peaked at Nandini Nagar Sports Stadium with a rally called Satyamev Jayate, where Singh's elder son and Gonda Sadar MLA Prateek Bhushan Singh waved a mace during the procession and said, "truth has prevailed."
