WB: Woman gang-raped, private parts mutilated with weapons

In a gruesome crime, two men in West Bengal allegedly raped a woman and mutilated her private parts with a metal object. They then dumped the girl aged 19-20 near a bridge in South Dinajpur. When she was found 18 hours later, she was unconscious and her intestines were coming out of her private parts. Both the men have been arrested.

The men abducted, gang-raped her, mutilated her with weapons

According to the victim, she was returning from a Shivratri fair on February 17 when she was attacked by Ram Sharma, a Dehaband resident, along with others. They abducted and gang-raped her. Later, they seemingly assaulted her with sharp weapons. A passerby noticed her lying under a bridge in a Dinajpur village the next day. She regained consciousness after he sprinkled water on her.

Activists arranging support for the victim, an orphan

She was rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where she was administered four units of blood. "A team of specialist doctors have conducted surgeries and she's responding well," said medical superintendent Amit Kumar. Activists have demanded strict punishment for the accused. "The victim, an orphan, has no relatives. We'll try to provide her with all support," said Chirashree Dasgupta, a renowned activist.
