BSF constable accidentally crosses into Bangladesh during foggy chase

India

A BSF constable, Ved Prakash, accidentally crossed the India-Bangladesh border early Sunday morning while chasing cattle smugglers in thick fog near the Teen Bigha Corridor in West Bengal.
The area where the incident occurred is reported to be about 110km from Cooch Behar town.
The poor visibility made it tough to spot the boundary line.

Quick response leads to safe return and tighter security

Local residents in Bangladesh spotted Prakash and handed him over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
After some quick talks between both countries' border forces, he was safely sent back to India by Sunday afternoon.
BSF officials clarified it was just an accident—not an abduction—and have now stepped up patrols and surveillance along vulnerable stretches to keep their personnel safe and curb cross-border crimes.
