32-year-old Singh hailed from Vidya Bhawan Naraypur in Ballia, UP. He is survived by his wife Sushmita. Two days ago, three jawans were injured in shelling by Pakistan in Poonch district. Yesterday, two Pakistani soldiers were killed in Indian retaliation. In 2016, there were 228 incidents of ceasefire violation. The number has risen sharply this year: till August 1, 285 incidents were recorded.
Singh's death comes a day after wanted LeT terrorist Abu Ismail was gunned down. Ismail was involved in an attack on Amarnath earlier this year that killed eight pilgrims. The attack was revenge for the killing of several LeT terrorists including Bashir Lashkari earlier.
