CBI charges CREST's Navneet Srivastava, wife in alleged 75.4cr embezzlement
Big news from Haryana: The CBI has officially charged former CEO of Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) and Indian Forest Service officer Navneet Srivastava and his wife for allegedly embezzling ₹75.4 crore from government funds. They are accused of using it to buy property.
Vipam Consultancy is also facing charges.
IDFC First Chandigarh 504cr scam uncovered
Turns out, this is just one piece of a massive ₹504 crore scam tied to IDFC First Bank's Chandigarh branch.
Eight government departments were reportedly targeted using fake fixed deposits and fraudulent debit transactions.
The CBI has now charged 37 people in connection with the wider fraud, and Srivastava remains in custody as investigations continue.
Chandigarh Smart City 78cr probe ongoing
The CBI is also digging into a related ₹78 crore fraud linked to Chandigarh's Smart City project.
