Punjab: Postponed CBSE Class 10, 12 exams on April 27
The CBSE has announced that the Class-10 and 12 exams scheduled on April 2 in Punjab that were cancelled will be held on the 27th instead. These include French, Sanskrit and Urdu Course B for Class-10, and Hindi Core, Hindi Elective, Gujarati, Nepali and Kashmiri for Class-12. Exam centers will remain the same. The exams had been called off due to a 'Bharat Bandh.'
Groups protesting "dilution" of SC/ST Act had called the Bandh
The Bharat Bandh on April 2 had been called by groups protesting the alleged dilution of the SC/ST Act by the Supreme Court. About 10 people were killed across India in the violence. Several other related deaths, including two of hospital-bound patients getting caught in traffic jams, were reported later. The Center filed a review petition, but the apex court refused to budge.
Class 12 Economics exam cancelled too due to leak
This time, the Class 12 Economics exam was cancelled for students across the country after reports emerged that the paper had leaked beforehand. The exam, that was held on March 26, will be held again on April 25. The CBSE initially said a retest would be held for Class 10 Math too, but later cancelled it, saying the leak hadn't affected the exam much.
