CBSE reschedules Class 12 Physical Education exam after controversy

The CBSE has rescheduled the Physical Education test for Class 12 after facing flak over its examination date sheet. Earlier, it was supposed to be held on April 9, but now has been shifted to April 13. The dates for all other subjects remain unchanged. CBSE cited 'administrative reasons' for the change. The cramped routine had triggered much anger among students, parents and teachers.

The schedule that has got students riled up

Science students have English on March 5 and Physics on 7, then Mathematics and Computer Science on 21 and 23. For humanities, it is History on March 20 and Mathematics the next day. Physical education was on April 9, a day after students appear for Legal Studies. The next day is Sociology. The exams will start on March 5 and end on April 13.

At least one-day gap necessary, if not two, says principal

"Don't play with the career of Humanities students! CBSE give gap please! Humanities students, 4 papers in 5 days. Disheartening as all the major papers are subjective 7 lengthy!(sic)," Sanjeev Saxena had tweeted. Ashok Pandey, the principal of Delhi's Ahlcon International School, had agreed. "Personally, I think two days should be the minimum break, but at least one is necessary."

200 subjects to arrange, plus competitive exams in April: CBSE

CBSE says the routine was decided based on several factors, including competitive exams. The JEE is scheduled on April 8. Moreover, with students taking up different combinations from among 200 subjects, sometimes even across streams, it wasn't possible to ensure gaps between all exams.
