Champat Rai alleges Nripendra Misra controls Ayodhya temple construction
Champat Rai, former Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust (SRJTKT) general secretary and senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader, has openly questioned how much control Nripendra Misra has over the Ayodhya temple construction.
In a nine-page article shared on August 18, Rai claimed that nothing happened onsite without Misra's approval and described his grip as near-complete.
The article was circulated in a VHP media group.
Misra says temple completed and dedicated
Rai said decisions made without Misra were often reversed and some committee members chosen by him barely contributed. Still, he credited Misra for bringing in experts to solve tough problems.
The temple's design ("The temple architect, Ahmedabad-based Shri Chandrakant Bhai Sompura, had been selected by the late VHP leader Ashok Singhal in 1986 and was retained.") hasn't changed, and construction started during the pandemic in June 2020.
The massive 70-acre complex has included not just the main temple but also a museum, guest house, and more.
Responding to all this, Misra said the temple construction was completed and dedicated to society by June 2026 and said there was "nothing negative or controversial" in it.
