Chariots of deities arrive at Gundicha Temple post Rath Yatra
After a dramatic overnight delay—thanks to Lord Balabhadra's chariot getting stuck—the iconic Rath Yatra in Puri saw the chariots of Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra finally roll into Gundicha Temple.
This temple is considered the deities' aunt's house and sits just 2.6km from their main home.
The journey resumed Saturday morning with huge crowds, devotional chants, and tight security.
Over a million people attended the festival on day 1
The festival drew over a million people on day one alone—even with sweltering heat—and more than 600 devotees needed medical help due to crowding.
Odisha Police went all out, deploying about 10,000 personnel and using AI-powered CCTV for safety.
Top state officials even joined in pulling the ropes, showing how big this event is for everyone.
As Arabinda Padhee from the temple administration put it, "We thank all stakeholders including devotees for the conduct of Rath Yatra."
The deities will stay at Gundicha Temple for nine days before heading back on July 5—so if you missed it this time, there's still more to come!
