Chennai man nabbed at Mumbai airport after months on the run

A 41-year-old man named Gopal was arrested at Mumbai's airport after flying in from China, thanks to a Look-Out Circular issued by Chennai police.
He'd been wanted for allegedly assaulting a 23-year-old woman in Chennai in January 2024.

What happened and what's next

In January 2024, the woman was on her way to work when Gopal reportedly followed her on a two-wheeler and tried to offer her a lift before the assault.
After she filed a complaint, police identified him as the suspect and flagged airports nationwide.
Once he landed in Mumbai, officials quickly alerted local police, who brought him back to Chennai for questioning.
He's now been placed in judicial custody while the case moves forward.
