Chennai power cut on August 22: Check affected areas

India

Heads up, Chennai! There's a planned power cut on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 9am to 2pm for some important line maintenance.
Don't worry—it won't happen on Sundays or public holidays, and officials say electricity should be back by the afternoon.

Outage in parts of Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Selaiyur, Perungalathur

Several neighborhoods will feel the outage, including parts of Kandansavadi Kallukkatti, Thiruvalluvar Nagar, Gandhi Street, Nehru Street, Adyar's Shastri Nagar (1st Avenue and 1st, 2nd, 15th Cross Street), Thiruvanmiyur's Kamaraj Nagar and Marudeeswarar Nagar, Selaiyur's Thirumagal Nagar and Rajaji Nagar, Perungalathur's Bharathi Nagar (1st to 8th Street), Sembakkam's Saraswathi Nagar—and more.

IT corridor and Red Hills will also be affected

If you're in the IT Corridor (like Pillaiyarkoil Street or MCN Nagar) or Red Hills (J.J. Nagar and Tirthankaraipattu), expect disruptions too.
Mango Grove areas such as Town Panchayat and Raghunathapuram are also included.
So maybe plan your device charging or work-from-home schedules accordingly!
