Chhattisgarh: 6 Maoists, including 2 top leaders, gunned down

India

Security forces carried out a big operation in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Tuesday, taking down six Maoists—including senior leaders Buchanna Kudiyam and Urmila, both with ₹8 lakh bounties.
Acting on solid intel, teams moved into the dense forests between Kandulnar and Kachlaram villages to target key figures behind attacks and logistics for the group.

Forces recovered INSAS rifles and grenades from site

Along with the encounter, forces recovered INSAS rifles and grenades from the site.
Officials say 144 Maoists have been neutralized this year, nearly 500 arrested, and over 500 have surrendered—significantly weakening their presence.
As Inspector General Sundarraj P. put it, "The Maoist organization is now completely cornered and has no option but to abandon violence and return to the mainstream," disrupting their operations.
