Chhattisgarh: Major clash leaves 7 Maoists, 2 soldiers dead

India

A major encounter broke out in the morning on the Bijapur-Dantewada border in Chhattisgarh, where security forces and Maoists exchanged heavy fire.
Seven Maoists and two District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel lost their lives, while one more jawan was injured but is now stable.
The operation involved a joint effort from DRG, STF, CRPF, and CoBRA teams.

Ongoing crackdown sees big numbers this year

After the clash, security forces recovered weapons like SLRs and .303 rifles from the site.
According to police officials, this operation is part of a larger anti-Maoist campaign in West Bastar Division that's been especially active—this year alone, 270 Maoists have been neutralized in Chhattisgarh.
Superintendent Jitendra Yadav described the current phase as "aggressive" and "decisive," with more reinforcements moving in to secure the area.
