Won't leave until...: CJP founder seeks to extend Delhi protest
What's the story
Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has demanded an extension of his protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. The protest was launched over alleged examination irregularities and repeated paper leaks. Dipke was quoted as saying by PTI that he wouldn't leave until Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. "I request the authorities...since youth from all over the country is here," he said, appealing to Delhi Police for permission to continue the protest.
Protest details
'Thali and chammach' protest
Dipke also requested Delhi Police to "open a dialogue with the Centre." The protest saw students and supporters banging thali and chammach (plates and spoons) as a symbol of protest. They chanted slogans demanding Pradhan's resignation over examination management issues. Despite uncertainty about the movement's future, many participants felt it was important to mobilize collectively. Delhi High Court advocate Dilshad Choudhary said recurring paper leak controversies had become a tipping point for public anger.
Open letter
Dipke wrote open letter to PM Modi
Ahead of the protest, Dipke had written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter demanded accountability over concerns raised by students. "Not all wars are fought to be won; some are fought to let everyone know that someone was there," a NEET aspirant said at the protest. The demonstration follows an earlier CJP protest at Jantar Mantar on June 20.
