Delhi AQI crosses 400; government introduces new rules to combat

India

Delhi woke up to seriously bad air this Saturday, with pollution levels hitting an AQI of 355 and some spots like Bawana spiking over 400 by the afternoon.
In response to the consistently poor air quality over the past week, city officials have introduced new rules to help clear the air.

What are the new rules?

Non-Delhi registered commercial vehicles that don't meet BS-IV standards are now banned from entering the city.
Government office hours have been tweaked to cut down rush hour traffic, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is urging everyone to use public transport or carpool instead of driving solo.
Plus, parking fees at NDMC lots just went up (unless you're parking on-street or have a monthly pass), all aiming to get fewer cars on Delhi roads and breathe a little easier.
