Delhi CM declares October 27 public holiday for Chhath Puja

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has declared October 27, 2025, a public holiday for Chhath Puja.
While checking on festival preparations, she highlighted how important the celebration is for the city and shared that over 1,300 Chhath ghats are being set up with upgraded safety and hygiene measures.

17 model Chhath ghats developed along Yamuna

The government has developed 17 model Chhath ghats along the Yamuna to make the festival safer and more inclusive for everyone.
Gupta also updated PM Modi on efforts to clean up the Yamuna—like better sewage treatment and new green spaces—showing a push for both cultural respect and environmental care.
