Delhi continues free LPG connections to curb pollution

Delhi is continuing its free LPG scheme for slum residents, hoping to curb air pollution by swapping out coal and traditional stoves for cleaner gas.
The move comes as the city's air quality remains stubbornly "very poor," with an AQI of 361 this week.

Government urges people to carpool, use public transport

Officials are running surveys to find families who qualify for the free LPG connections under the Ujjwala Yojana.
With stubble burning in nearby states pushing PM2.5 levels even higher—expected to jump from 8% to over 32%—the government is also urging people to carpool or use public transport.
Meanwhile, street cleaning and emissions checks have ramped up, but the fight for cleaner air continues.
