Delhi fire emergencies on Diwali: Calls down 30% this year

India

Good news from Delhi this Diwali—fire emergencies were way down compared to last year.
The Delhi Fire Service got 228 emergency calls between October 20 and 21, a big drop from 318 calls last year (2024).
Of these, 81 were about firecrackers. Even during the busiest hours (6am on Diwali night to 6am the next day), incidents dipped slightly from 290 last year to 281 this time.

No major fire incidents in Delhi

There were just two major fire incidents in Delhi: one at Mohan Garden, where seven people were rescued safely, and another large blaze at Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, both with no injuries.
Neighboring Gautam Buddh Nagar (covering Noida and Greater Noida) also saw fire cases fall sharply—from 68 last year to only 26, with everyone safe.
