Delhi hospitals report increase in heat-related illnesses

India

Delhi is baking under a relentless heatwave, with temperatures soaring past 45°C and the "feels like" index hitting 51.9°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out a red alert for the city, warning everyone to stay cautious at least until June 13 as the risk of heat-related illness is high.

Heatwave affecting people's health

The extreme heat isn't just uncomfortable—it's sending more people than ever to hospitals with dehydration and dizziness, especially outdoor workers. Some hospitals have even set up special wards just for these cases. IMD says relief may come by mid-June with possible rain, but until then, it's best to avoid being outside during peak hours—especially if you're older or have health issues.
