Delhi: Man kills house help for 'bad energy' affecting son

In a shocking incident in South Delhi's upscale Kailash Hills, Dr. Manish Gupta (54) allegedly killed his 45-year-old house help, Meena Haldar. According to Hindustan Times, he assaulted her with a bat and a knife. The gruesome crime took place at Gupta's Mount Kailash residence. Reportedly, the doctor suspected Haldar of bringing "bad energy" into his home and affecting his son's studies.

Gupta, who runs a dental clinic near his home, has been on antidepressant medication for several years. He allegedly felt that his family valued Haldar more than him. Despite his requests to fire her, his wife, Dr. Tina Gupta, refused to do so. This refusal reportedly further fueled the doctor's anger.

Haldar had come to work as usual. She went to the terrace of the third-floor apartment to dry clothes when Gupta allegedly followed her. In a room adjacent to the rooftop, he picked up a bat and a knife. He first hit Haldar with the bat, after which she fell. He then stabbed her multiple times with the knife.

The incident came to light around 11:30am when a neighbor at Amar Colony police station called in about a body lying on the rooftop of an adjacent building. DCP (Southeast) Hemant Tiwari confirmed that "the caller said the body of a woman was lying, soaked in blood." When police arrived at the scene, they found Dr. Gupta near Haldar's body.

According to the report by HT, Dr. Gupta allegedly confessed to police officials about hitting Haldar with a bat and stabbing her with a knife. He has been arrested and is being questioned further by the police. The motive behind this brutal act is still being ascertained. More than 50-60 domestic workers gathered outside the apartment around noon and staged a protest.
