Delhi: Man arrested for killing wife in her clinic

Delhi Police arrested a 45-year-old man, who had visited his wife's clinic to kill her, from northeast Delhi's Maujpur area yesterday. In March, the woman doctor had filed a cheating case against Varun Kaul and his family. The couple met through a matrimonial website in 2015 and married the same year. Kaul introduced himself as an MBBS doctor but only had a BAMS degree.

Woman's father-in-law allegedly molested her twice

As a dowry, the woman's father gave gold ornaments worth Rs. 20L to her in-laws as dowry and spent nearly Rs. 50L on their wedding. But after marriage, her in-laws started demanding more dowry. The woman alleged that her father-in-law, who claimed that he had retired from Indian Air Force as a doctor, molested her twice. He never worked in IAF, she added.

Various crime cases were filed against woman's husband

The woman approached police when she came to know that her husband's real name was Varun Kaul and he has various cases filed against him in Delhi, Chandigarh, Goa, and Maharashtra. However, the accused and his father had escaped when police went to arrest them from Panchkula. The police arrested accused yesterday when he visited his wife's clinic to kill her.

Accused had also cheated two other women

During interrogation, the accused accepted that he had committed a number of frauds by purchasing new luxury cars on bogus demand drafts, said Vijay Kumar, DCP (West). He and his father were arrested in September 2008 by Mumbai Police in connection with cheating cases registered in Hauz Khas and Rohini in Delhi. The accused had also cheated two other women by promising to marry.
