On Thursday, metro service along Delhi Metro's Violet Line was disrupted after a portion of a boundary wall fell on the tracks owing to heavy winds and rain. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far, and services are expected to be resumed as soon as the railing is cleared off the tracks. The Violet Line connects Kashmere Gate, Delhi to Escorts Mujesar, Faridabad.

Details of the incident as told by a DMRC official

A portion of the railing fell on the tracks (going towards Faridabad) between Jangpura and Lajpat Nagar stations at around 4pm in the evening. After the incident, the approaching train towards Lajpat Nagar was put on hold due to the obstruction, and all passengers were escorted safely to the Lajpat Nagar station, said senior DMRC official.

Work is underway to get the railing removed

Currently, trains along the Violet Line are being run in two loops - between Nehru Palace and Escorts Mujesar, and between Central Secretariat and Kashmere Gate. Work is underway to get the railing removed, and the overhead electricity supply between Central Secretariat and Nehru Palace has been switched off to assist the work. Normal movement will be restored once the railing is removed.
