Delhi scam exploits airline refunds and SEO ads
Delhi Police have uncovered a travel scam targeting people from the US, UK, and Canada.
AVS Holidays, a Kirti Nagar-based agency, collected card details under false pretenses to book flights for customers, then secretly canceled the tickets and claimed full refunds from airlines by faking deaths or medical emergencies with forged documents.
Victims got only partial refunds
Victims often got only partial refunds—or nothing—after being hit with fake cancelation fees.
The scammers used search ads to appear as legit agents and tricked people into sharing their payment info.
Akshay Sharma, the main accused, was arrested on June 24; police seized dozens of laptops, phones, and fake certificates during the raid.
Sharma admitted running fake call centers for these cons.
Investigations are ongoing to find others involved and map out the full extent of the fraud.
