Delhi spots 62 major traffic jam zones—here's what's changing
Delhi just flagged 62 big traffic congestion hotspots, including busy stretches like Bhavbhuti Marg, Kashmere Gate, and South Extension.
These areas are notorious for peak-hour jams that slow everyone down and add to the city's pollution problem—especially around Safdarjung Hospital and Ajmeri Gate.
What's the plan to fix it?
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa rolled out a step-by-step action plan: right now, extra staff are being deployed and illegal parking is getting cracked down on.
Over the next few months, expect better-designed junctions, adaptive signals and smart traffic systems, and clearer signs.
For the long haul, Delhi will see wider roads, foot overbridges and underpasses, and adaptive systems—all aimed at easing jams (especially in trouble spots like Kalindi Kunj) and helping clean up the air.
