Delhi student's suicide sparks protests, school suspends staff

India

A Class 10 student from St Columba's School in Delhi died by suicide on November 18 at Rajendra Place Metro Station, prompting protests from classmates and parents who demanded answers.
Protests broke out outside the school as people called for accountability over what led to the student's distress.

Inquiry launched after allegations of harassment

The student had reportedly told a fellow parent in the rickshaw that he felt "tortured" by teachers as exams approached, and left a note mentioning harassment.
In response, Delhi's Education Minister set up an inquiry committee and reminded schools to support students' mental health.
Four staff members have been suspended while police investigate what happened.
