Delhi's air quality improves for 1st time in 7 years

India

Good news for Delhi—this November 4, the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped to 291, its best in seven years.
That's a big step up from previous years when the AQI was well above 380.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa says this progress comes from steady, science-backed efforts, even with challenges like crop burning and ongoing construction.

What has Delhi done to tackle pollution?

Delhi has ramped up its winter pollution fight under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
There are now over 1,200 teams checking vehicle emissions and dust, plus hundreds of anti-smog guns, water sprinklers, and road sweepers out on duty.
The city is also cracking down on construction sites and keeping unnecessary trucks out to help keep the air cleaner for everyone.
