Delhi's air turns "very poor"—here's what you need to know
Delhi's air quality has dropped sharply, with the AQI hitting 377—firmly in the "very poor" zone.
PM2.5 is the main culprit, and 16 out of 40 city monitoring stations even reported "severe" pollution levels.
Why does it matter?
Breathing this air isn't great for anyone, but it's especially risky for kids and older people—it can trigger asthma or make breathing tough.
The city has already seen six "severe" pollution days in 2025, and authorities have handed out over 7,000 fines this month for various pollution-related violations, including 420 for illegal waste burning.
Weather + politics: a messy combo
Thick fog made visibility drop to just 200m on Sunday morning, and more fog is expected as temps hover around 9-21°C.
Meanwhile, political parties are busy blaming each other for not fixing the pollution problem.
For now, Delhi's air is likely to stay "very poor" until December 24.
