Delhi's traffic offenders: 20,000 fines issued daily

India

Delhi is seeing a surge in traffic violations, with over 20,000 fines handed out every single day.
Four-wheelers top the list for offenses like speeding and running red lights—even though the city has high-tech CCTV everywhere.
As DCP SK Singh puts it, nearly 16,000 challans are issued to car drivers daily.

Breakdown of the numbers

Here's the breakdown: about 2,000 fines hit two-wheelers and another 4,000 go to commercial drivers (think trucks and cabs).
Of all these fines, around 5-6K are given on the spot while CCTV cameras catch another 18-19K violations.
Typical penalties? ₹5K if you're caught without a license and ₹1K for jumping a red light.
If you spot rule-breakers yourself, you can report them through official apps—and earn up to ₹50K a month doing it!
