DGCA warns Air India over safety breaches

India's aviation regulator, DGCA, has pulled up Air India for skipping overdue safety checks on escape slides in some of its Airbus aircraft—these slides are what help people get out quickly during emergencies.
Because of these lapses, the airworthiness certificates for the affected planes were "deemed suspended," though this isn't connected to any recent crash.

TL;DR

One plane was checked late by over a month

DGCA's investigation found that one Airbus A320 missed its check by over a month, and an A319 was overdue by more than three months—even while flying domestic routes.
There was also an accidental slide deployment, pointing to issues with Air India's internal oversight.
The warning came after repeated reminders; since Tata Group took over in 2022, Air India has been working on catching up with maintenance records.
DGCA says it takes violations like this seriously to keep flights safe for everyone.
