Diesel auto-rickshaws banned in Noida, Ghaziabad to combat pollution
India
Noida and Ghaziabad just banned diesel auto-rickshaws, as the UP government tries to fight back against some seriously bad air pollution.
The ban kicks in right away for these cities and will reach Baghpat after December 2025.
It's all about cutting down on vehicle emissions across the NCR.
What else is happening?
To help clear the air, authorities are fixing roads, running big cleaning drives, and rolling out anti-smog guns and mechanical sweepers to tackle dust.
Diesel autos are also being phased out in Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli by next year.
With AQI levels now at 'very poor' in Noida and 'severe' in Ghaziabad, these steps couldn't come soon enough.
