Twitterati's reactions after candidate brings duplicate 'Virat Kohli' for campaign

In the wondrous land of India, life is often hard and unpredictable. So, all that is left is to seek humor relief. This is exactly what social media users did when they learned a duplicate of star cricket player Virat Kohli campaigned for gram-panchayat elections in Maharashtra. The candidate had promised the real Kohli but failed to deliver, obviously.

Vitthal Ganpat Ghavate promised Virat Kohli, voters got duplicate

Vitthal Ganpat Ghavate promised voters he would bring Virat Kohli for the rally on May 25. Ghavate is contesting for the sarpanch's post in Ramalinga Gram Panchayat in Shirur. On the big day, when the huge crowd came to see the Indian skipper, they were welcomed by his look-alike. The only thing similar between the look-alike and Virat was probably beard (Or maybe not!)

The reason behind announcing Virat Kohli's name

As it turns out, announcing Kohli as a star campaigner had a reason behind it. The Ramalinga Development Panel's symbol is a bat and considering Virat is globally famous for doing wonders with his, the candidate thought of the idea.

Twitter user points out gaffe, post goes viral

So this actually happened. They put up an election rally ad saying Virat Kohli is going to campaign for us and they actually fooled public by bringing a lookalike of Virat Kohli 😂😂😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/Xl9GvAVi2W

Twitter users laughed and cried at the same time

After the image went viral, Twitter users both laughed at the pun and cried at the state of affairs. One user wrote: "Should admire the doppelgänger's audacity who is so oblivious to the whole thing. They would have nailed it if they could manage a look-alike of Anushka too." Another one wrote: "Jugaad is the right word here." Truly, incredible India.

Without a shred of doubt, the incident is funny
