Early monsoon arrival anticipated in Delhi
Good news for Delhi—IMD says the monsoon is arriving early this year, between June 19 and 25 (instead of the usual June 30). After days of intense heat, expect things to cool down soon with light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds (up to 60km/h) starting June 13.
Delhi is extremely hot and dry right now
Delhi and much of northwest India are seriously short on rain right now—only 2.6mm fell last week, which is a huge 78% deficit. This has made water shortages and heat stress worse. The early monsoon should finally bring relief: cooler temps, less heatwave risk, and much-needed rain for everyone.
Expect cooler weather, scattered showers from June 16-19
From June 16-19, look out for cloudy skies and scattered showers. Highs will drop to a more manageable 37-39°C with lows around 25-27°C—and there's no heatwave warning in sight.
